- Once you purchase the application from the Webkul store, you will receive the link to download the zip file of the module.
- Extract the file to your system once the download is complete. As a result, you will be able to see a folder named- ‘odoo_restrict_and_merge‘
- Copy and paste this folder into your Odoo Add-ons Path.
- Now open the Odoo app and click on the Settings menu. Here click on Enable developer mode.
- Then open the Applications menu and click ‘Update module list‘
- In the search bar, remove all filters and search for ‘odoo_restrict_and_merge‘
- You will be able to see the module in the search results. Click on ‘Install’ to install it.
- After installing Odoo Restrict & Merge Duplicate Data module, go to Restrict Duplication here you can see “NEW” and “Find Duplicate Records” options.
2. When you click on the “Find duplicate” option, a small window opens where you can enter the criteria for searching for duplicates. In this window, you will need to specify:
- Search by: Choose the field(s) on which you want to base your duplicate search.
- Fields: Enter or select specific fields (for example, name, email, or other identifying fields) to compare for duplicates.
After entering the required information, click Retrieve Duplicates.

3. After that, the data appears, showing Model, FieldsAnd Active columns. Check the boxes to select the desired lines. After selecting, click ‘Show selected rows’

4. Next, select the original lines and click Proceed to continue.

5. After clicking Proceedthe “Delete Archive Merge” page appears with two options:
- Archive a duplicate recording
- Replace duplicate record with original
Check the box corresponding to your preferred action, then click Archive a duplicate recording to complete the process.

>Similarly, you can recover duplicate data in sales, purchases and invoice records.
Below is an example for sales:
(I) Clicking on “Find duplicate” opens a window allowing you to define duplicate search criteria. Choose the field(s) (e.g. name, email) under Search by and specify the fields to compare. Then click Recover duplicates.

(ii) The data displays columns for Model, Fields, and Asset. Select the rows using the check boxes and click Show Selected Rows.

(iii) Next, select the original lines and click Proceed to continue.

(iv) After clicking Proceedselect Archive a duplicate recording Or Replace duplicate record with original on the “Delete Archived Merge” page, and then click Archive a duplicate recording to be completed.

6. You can set a restriction by clicking New. Select the Model And Fields you want to restrict, activate the Active option and save it. This will avoid duplicate entries for the specified data.

7. Click Configuration then select Recycle recordings to view the recycled records.
